In an effort to achieve elegant interiors by Doing It Yourself (DIY, hereafter) each look will have to start with a moodboard. A mood board is typically a combination of images, fonts, colors, and textures that define the style of the project. We use these moodboards as our starting point for a fabulous new scheme. We therefore use them to design our own schemes.
This is a step by step guide to developing a MOOD BOARD.
Whether it’s flooring or a wall, this will be the largest area of colour in your room, so add a large sample of it to your board. Adding carpet samples e.g. helps you think about texture, too.
A dramatic contrast, or an accent just a few tones away from your base colour. Use your moodboard to play with options and layer it up with swatches and scraps.
These will really set the tone – go for ones that share an accent colour and stick to a single theme. Don’t mix styles, or your scheme will look messy rather than eclectic.
With your moodboard set up you’re well on your way to achieving beautiful interior spaces.
As always, thanks for reading.
